Analysis of ML model performance shows that the CART ML model fits well in the case of incomplete valve state information. With the coverage of 50% (k = 4∕8), 0.95 accuracy can be achieved, which is just 0.02 less than the maximum accuracy possible (with 100% coverage). Further, the best performance is observed when the ratio of valve type coverage is c : w : i = 50 : 50 : 0, i.e., of all the observed valves, 50% are channel valves, and 50% are wall valves. This shows that the channel valves and the wall valves are easy targets for an attacker. Any change in these valves would cause a malfunction in the bioassay. In contrast, inactive valves can be used to degrade the biochip lifetime (aging attack). If the defender does not observe any inactive, then it is not possible to detect the aging attack. Therefore, a practical strategy could be to observe fewer inactive valves and more channel and wall valves. This could ensure a balance between the accuracy of prediction among all types of attacks.
